Mother Nature is super confused around here. We keep swinging from temperatures below freezing accompanied with snow to 55 degree sunny days and everything in between. Now that stores have begun putting out spring items that have us all wishing spring would just get here, I went ahead and put together some outfits that will work as Mother Nature works to get herself together! The idea with these looks is that I’m trying to create more of a capsule wardrobe, that is, getting the most out of just a few key pieces and saving some cash in the long run.
Overalls: True to size (wearing 2), but I wouldn’t recommend for anyone taller than me (I’m 5’6”. If you look closely, you’ll see I have them adjusted to the longest “setting” in the straps.) They cinch nicely in the waist with buttons which I love because it gives you a nice shape and avoids the childlike look that sometimes happens in overalls.
Tee: True to size (wearing xs); Relaxed fit with a worn-in style and crew neck. This mimics a more expensive z-supply look.
Leopard Flats: These came home with me! I’m normally a shoe snob, but these are honestly more comfortable than the $90 pair that everyone seems to have. True to size, wearing a 7. They also come in blush, gray, and black!
Duster Cardigan: This is a great piece to use to bring pieces from winter to spring. The tied waist either in front or behind to define your midsection a bit. Bonus? On sale! True to size, wearing XS. It also comes in a mustard shade.
This jumpsuit! From work, to the mall, to dinner it works! The fabric is a nice weight and appears more expensive than the price tag. I’d also pair it with pumps for a date. True to size, wearing XS. It also comes in pink and black.
Faux Leather Jacket: I’ve had this for a few seasons now and I reach for it more often than my blank NYC one that most people seem to love. To me, the quality is just as good if not better.
Wedges: Again, I’m so impressed with the quality! The fact that these cover most of the foot so I like them for spring before it’s truly warm consistently. They’re incredibly comfortable and true to size. Wearing size 7.
Pants: I really like these! They come in several colors and are a really nice quality. These pants are perfect for the workplace or in a casual setting. True to size. Wearing XS.
Cami: This top is very very VERY similar to one I have from Express. I mean… there’s no difference besides the price tag. Versatile and goes with everything, day to night. TTS, wearing XS.
Denim Jacket: This one is slightly copped and an unfinished hem. I like it, but this one is better. I own this one and have had it for maybe 2 years and it’s simply the best (comes in two washes). TTS, wearing xs in both.
Dress: Living my best 90’s life and channeling my inner Rachel Green. This dress is a mini. If you’re taller than maybe 5’7”, be ready to pull the hem down often. Wearing the denim jacket around the waist or the duster helps to minimize the chances of a booty sighting. Unless that’s your thing. In which case. No judgment and DO YOU! 🙂
White top: Very oversized. I would size down one size regardless. I had intention to use this as another option with the green pants from earlier, but it just was too big to be flattering. Otherwise, it’s made really well and isn’t see through. Wearing XS.
