Traffic was horrendous today. A presentation didn’t go well. Your kid spilled his cereal, ruined your outfit, and everyone was late. Inconveniences happen.
Grief. Illness. Clinical depression. Disasters. Life can be really, really, difficult.
You cannot control what happens to you. You also can’t control how you feel in the moment(s) in which you’re impacted by life’s curve balls. The moment you realize that the way you react and how long you allow the feelings to become your mood, you’re in power.
Feelings happen. Feelings grow and become a mood when they stay awhile. At that point, you have choices. Stay angry, sad, or frustrated OR move in a different direction. Focus on more positive things, reach out for help, or seek solutions and you begin to see that a mood is often indeed a choice.
